About Us
Our Name
OMKARA is the sacred monosyllable OM that finds its origin in Hindu and Buddhist religion. OM is the most sacred of words with great mystical powers. Om was the first sound of the universe, the sound of creation. It is used in Yoga and meditation.
Many of our designers find their inspiration in Hindu and Buddhist religion, spirituality and mysticism.
On a personal level OMKARA symbolizes our own personal connection with India and the psychedelic trance scene.

Our Story
We are Linda and Aaron, originally from Belgium and Australia.
After living in Europe and traveling through Asia and the Middle East, we found ourselves in Perth, Western Australia (the most isolated city in the world) in 2004.
We quickly discovered that Perth has very little to offer in the way of alternative well designed, high quality, but affordable clothing; and having a little experience with running a market stall with UV reactive “candy” jewellery and piercing jewellery at European Trance festivals, we decided to expand our range with clothing and start a more permanent shop in Fremantle (Perth’s little alternative sister).
For our clothing range, we decided to stock from small independent labels and designers that we discovered during our travels and whilst doing trance festivals in Europe. We wear and love the clothing we sell.
Our Philosophy
We offer a unique range of alternative day wear (our Earth Wear) and psychedelic UV party wear (our Space Wear) for Goa Trance, Psychedelic Trance, doof, rave, clubbing or whatever electronica you are into.
We have selected a group of international (and some Australian) designers that take creativity and originality to a new level.
Our chosen designers do not abide by standard fashion rules and create their own unique style in a global spirit of change and awareness.
We are always on the look out for new designers and ideas, and try to travel regularly in order to find them.
In order to guarantee you with a quality product, we always “road-test” a new label before we decide to stock it. With care, our clothing should last you many seasons.
We try to keep our clothing affordable even though we only stock clothing that has been produced on an ethically conscious basis. It is our principle to not stock “sweat shop” clothing. Please read more about our ethical principles on our Happy Clothing page.

EARTH WEAR
- GODDESS CLOTHES
Goddess Clothes are designed by Lies De Peuter from Belgium, a costume and theatre designer since 1993.
She produces her clothing in small, locally owned and run workshops in Indonesia. All garments are hand crafted with great care and the tailoring is excellent.
The most influential source of inspiration for Goddess Clothes is the Goddess Spirituality (The Triple Goddess: The Maiden, The Mother and The Matriarch), but there is also a lot of influence from tribal art (prime symbols) and ethnic and medieval sources.
The garments are rich in texture and colour with a preference for earth colours.
Goddess Clothes has some designs for men, but her main focus is on women's clothing.
The perfect Goddess image of a woman is that of a female warrior, her main aim is to empower women.
"It's hard being a woman, you have to think like a man, behave like a lady, look like a young girl and work like a horse"... sounds familiar?
- GADO GADO VIENNA
Gado Gado means "to mix" in Indonesian and Vienna was where founders Issy and Pitzi lived when they first got together.
They came from the Vienna punk and metal scene, with their background in tattoo art.
The main aim behind Gado Gado Vienna has always been to produce individually designed and printed clothing, incorporating tribal and tattoo art.
Issy and Pitzi first came to Bali (Indonesia) in 1992, which at the time was becoming a global party center for the international trance scene.
It was the right time and place for their tribal style which merges tattoos, techno and punk and things simply took off from there.
All Gado Gado Vienna garments are still individually printed and hand-made in locally operated workshops.
- FREE SPIRIT
A Wearable Life Concept
Yael and Nath from Israel are the Free Spirit girlz.
They were originally graphic designers, but became unsatisfied with their commitments and the way their lives were going. They decided to finish off their projects, quit their jobs, sell what they didn’t need and become "Free Spirits" roaming the world.
They started pouring their creativity into a clothing line which they named "Free Spirit a Wearable Life Concept" and produced their first collection in 2005.
They spend most of their time in India, where they produce and sell on the Flea Market in Goa, and roam between Israel and Europe for the doing the trance festivals there.
Their style focuses mainly on women. They specialize in sexy summer tops with their typical cuttings (a popular technique which they took to a new level). They find most of their inspiration in nature and spirituality, thus transforming spirit into matter.
- FLOWER OF LIFE
Flower of Life is designed by Luka from Italy since 1997. He's our only male designer and specializes in alternative men's wear.
The Flower of Life label grew with the seeds of the early trance parties as Luka traveled around the world organizing and doing parties in Bali, Brazil and Goa (India). He often jokes that his clothes were designed on the speakers...
He's been selling his clothing on the frontline at the flea market in Goa for the last 12 years, so he's always in tune with what's moving in the scene.
Luka loves to dance and wants to bring a global message with the clothes he designs: Love is everything in life and a trance party as a ceremony can become a multi dimensional gateway where you can become the Divine. "Dance, dance, feel my work with your heart and enjoy the message."
The Flower of Life by Pleiadian represents the cell structure of the universe and according to Luka, the constellation he came from before he ended up on this planet. He wants to spread the symbol everywhere.
- AJNA ORGANIC
Ajna Design is the newest member in our global designer family.
Ajna Design is designed by Tanja and Asaf from Germany and Israel.
Their designs are a reflection of nature; the colours, shape and the general feel of Ajna Designs always has the smell and touch of the forest and the trees.
Ajna's production has always been free from harmful chemicals and underpaid labour, but since 2009 they actually produce organic clothing in Israel and India. Organic clothing means that the garments are made from organic cotton, which has been grown without harmful chemicals for fertilization and pest control, on soil that has not been previously contaminated. They also use ecologically friendly dying materials.
Ajna's production is strictly monitored by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). GOTS oversees the implementation of organic standard throughout the entire growing and production process, from seed through to fabric and garment and certifies Ajna's organic standard.
- IZWOZ
Izwoz clothing is designed and produced by Katie and Brad from Adelaide, South Australia.
They design and print their own prints using eco-friendly ink. Their hoodies are hand made in their home based studio, their T-shirts are imported from WRAP (World Responsible Accredited Production) accredited suppliers and printed in their studio.
Izwoz designs are inspired by the fusion of nature with technology, ancient myth, future prophecy and the cosmic transformation of earth species into new life.
Their focus is the creative fusion between work and play.

SPACE WEAR
- SPACE TRIBE
Space Tribe grew from the seeds of the early psychedelic trance parties in the late eighties and early nineties on Koh Phangan (Thailand) and in Goa (India).
Olli Wisdom first started traveling and organizing parties all over the world. In 1993, Olli, his brother Miki and Richmond (all from England) started Space Tribe clothing in Bali (Indonesia).
The fractal fluoro party gear was an instant success and since then Space Tribe has become THE name for high quality psychedelic clothing at parties all over the world.
Many people (including myself) still have Space Tribe clothing from those early days and it still stands out as much as ever.

All clothing is hand made with great eye for detail and guaranteed quality fabrics and workmanship.
They offer a dazzling UV range of psychedelic prints with images from nature, the universe and spirituality. The clothing is comfortable with lots of pockets for everything you need and Space Tribe’s signature secret pockets...
Space Tribe has also been releasing albums since 1996 and set up their own record label in 2004.

We started off with making UV "candy" jewellery for the festivals in Europe. We still carry on the trend and offer a range of in hand-made "candy" produced in our store. Custom designs are possible, so please let us know if you have any ideas or suggestions. We also offer a large colour range of gaiters, designed for Omkara Earth & Space Wear and made in local workshops in Western Australia.
YANTRAS
- HEALING HERE AND NOW
The Yantras are being produced in India by Dariya and Jean-Pierre from Germany and France. They have 3 children and live in Goa (India), where they also run a Healing and Detox Clinic (Healing Here and Now) and a Children’s learning centre (Children Here and Now).
In 2001 they spent time in the Tibetan mountains and started creating the Yantras with the help of the Tibetans.
The intention was to create “Decoration to awake your Spirit” by combining the powers of ancient symbols, sacred geometry and colours into a concept that people can use in their every day lives.
By now thousands of their Yantras are energizing homes all over the world, helping people to become Concious human beings and re-connect with their spirits.
